What is SSC JE?

The SSC JE exam is one of the most challenging, yet opportunities-creating government exams in India. The exam conducting committee is Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

The engineering branches that are eligible for the SSC exam include Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering. Therefore, engineers belonging to these engineering disciplines can utilize the opportunities that this particular exam provides to deserving candidates.

SSC JE Eligibility

1 JE in BRO Degree in relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institute
OR
1) Three years Diploma in relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institute/Board.
2) Two years of working experience in respective field.
2 JE in CPWD Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.
3 JE in Central Water and Power Research Station Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.
4 JE in Central Water Commission Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.
5 JE in Directorate of Quality Assurance (Naval) Degree in relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institute
OR
1) Three years Diploma in relevant discipline from a recognized University/Institute/Board.
2) Two years of working experience in respective field.
6 JE in Farakka Barrage Project Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University or Institute.

SSC JE Exam Pattern

Paper I: Computer Based Examination -
i) General Intelligence and Reasoning
ii) General Awareness
iii) Part A: General Engineering (Civil and Structural) or Part B: General Engineering (Electrical) or Part C: General Engineering (Mechanical). General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness comprise questions that total 50 marks (in each case). Apart from this, the third part - General Engineering (Electrical) or General Engineering (Mechanical) is of 100 marks.

Paper II: Written Examination -
Part A: General Engineering (Civil and Structural) or
Part B: General Engineering (Electrical) or
Part C: General Engineering (Mechanical) is 300 marks.
The duration of Paper-I and Paper-II is 2 hours each.
